Show today, Leimert Park Art Walk!

I am performing stand-up comedy today at the Leimert Park Art Walk Comedy Show between 3 - 4pm. 4343 Leimert Blvd., LA, CA 90008. Stevie Mack is producing this show. The Leimert Park Art Walk is an event that occurs every Sunday of every month. Food, folks and fun in a nice cultural mash up of art, performance and ever evolving life. And it's free!!

Metronomy at Echoplex

I checked out Metronomy at Echoplex last night. They had a strong set. They opened strong with my favorite, "We Broke Free". You should check out some of their tunes!

REMBRANDTS

I had the pleasure of performing with Dave Nunez last night at Rembrandts behind the Orange Curtain in Placentia. Very nice room. Free comedy every Tuesday night. And a lot of babes in the audience. The other comedians that performed were Vince Royale, Pat Leborio, Keith Carey, Elton Castee, Lee Levine, Randy Durkee and closer Tom Connolly. If you live in that part of town, you might want to check out the show on any and every Tuesday night. And there is no cover.

Franklyn Ajaye

I had the pleasure of seeing Franklyn Ajaye perform recently at the Ice House. He did his "Does Your Head Spin Around?" bit. Man, I just love that bit. After the show I asked him to sign my copy of the book he authored, "Comic Insights, The Art Of Stand-up Comedy" This was the second time I met Franklyn. I used to work at Castle Rock Entertainment as a legal secretary and as I was typing away, he walked right past me. I couldn't believe my eyes. I approached him as he was leaving and he invited me and my beautiful wife (at that time) (well she is still beautiful but no longer my wife) to hang with him at the Los Angeles Improv, I believe that evening. One of the things he told me that night was the power was behind the camera...that I should try to get behind the camera if I wanted to have a healthy entertainment career. I had seen Franklyn perform live previously at The Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach. I remember that the crowd was not fully into him and I remember looking around at the crowd thinking, what is wrong with you people this guy is BRILLIANT!! Well the Ice House crowd loved him! Franklyn is one of my favorite comedians. "Does Your Head Spin Around? Does Your Fucking Head Spin Around?"

Please say your prayers for me. I had a last minute audition on Friday for a Newsday commercial and I just found out that I was put on Avails. I will find out tomorrow if I got it! I am so excited!!!!!

Okay, time for me to head to bed. I just rewatching Oprah's final show....man, she is very inspiring.

Dave Nunez

Dave Nunez is VERY FUNNY!! I met him last Sunday, emceeing Paradise Perks in Irvine. I believe he emcees at Rembrants in...La Habra? I'm not too sure and every other Friday he emcees at Max Bloom. I will share more once I get more...you need to check him out!!

Johnnie Flowers' room

So last Saturday evening i performed in Johnnie Flower's .... garage. Well actually he hooked up his garage to look like a comedy room and it looks pretty darn good. He has red curtains behind the stage with a large sign of the name of the ... club. And the sound system is very good. He has chairs lined up...his wife is in the back, DJing with an ipod..but most importantly he did have an audience. It was a fun show. I ran into Ryan Papazian who had a funny bit about having a rabbit as a pet and another bit about the MTV show, 16 and Pregnant. I first met him at another room last Sunday in Irvine called Paradise Perks (it's a coffee house). Comedian Tamiko Kirkland had a very good set and funny lady Jessica Koucouthakis headlined. Johnnie Flower has open mic every Wednesday in his ... garage and a booked show every Saturday. The address is 10282 Chapman Avenue, Garden Grove, CA 92840....entrance is thru alley in back.

I had fun Comedy Schmomedy last night!

Fun show last night at the Coffee Gallery Front Stage. I got to see writer/standup comedian Danny Vermont perform a tight set. I also heard producer Robin Roberts' "Beauty is a Pain in the Ass" song for the first time, which I fully enjoyed.

Comedian Tyrone Fance (who is producing his "Fatherhood" play at the same location on Sunday, August 21st) was in the audience as well as columnist/author/TV host Shirlee Smith (Talk About Parenting With Shirlee Smith).

And I did some new jokes tonight which is always fun. Thanks Robin for the stage time!

Last minute audition for a Verizon commercial today

Hey right now I'm listening to Murs' Everything.....has a nice groove. One, two, she was only 15 and love a bad R&B, she had to have vision because she saw the star in me, encourage me to write the drama in my life....
